Mr.Ness: The analysis of Personal Learning. Principal at Lutheran High school
Key points:
- Don’t be afraid to be a guide to others and not know everything about every topic
- Being able to have free choice when learning is very important
- Be willing to dive into Personal learning, opportunities will come forward that no one else would think to do
- Have no obstacles, have grit
S.W.O.T analysis of personal learning:
- Strengths-Being a hard worker and being able to do whatever I put my mind to
- Weaknesses-The public speaking aspect and being able to communicate my interests through presentation, Time management
- Opportunities-Being able to explore deeper into my interests and passions
- Threats-Getting distracted and off topic when given the freedom to study and learn whatever I desire
Reflections:
In Mr. Ness's presentation I learned that hard work and determination can achieve greatness. Also how I need to dive in deeper into each subject I am learning about. Having a PLN gives you the drive to pursue your passion and hone in on a specific learning point. One of my favorite points he made was how many opportunities we have to explore our passions and dig deeper into each subject I study. One thing I learned is to stay focused on my learning point and not get distracted when researching a topic.

Reflections:
Mrs. Bucholz tought us many amazing things on how to design a website. The main points she said were to focus on the colors, fonts and layouts of the website. One of the biggest things she said was to have a focus for the website. Have a drive and passion that leads the website and is the main aspect. Another things that stuck with me was creating a logo and brand to set yourself apart from everyone else. I thought it was very interesting to see how the color and design of a website can dictate the mood and gives a specific feeling to a person. Each person is different, so try to appeal to everyone by providing a variety of different layouts and color schemes.
Mr.Rinks: Fundraising expert and Director of Fundraising at Lutheran High school
Key points:
- Your life can be many things, doesn’t have to be restricted to one
- “Delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4
- You can pursue many things in life
- Living a christian life is exciting
- Strive to be the best athlete, artist and student possible
- “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and all your soul. Don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.” Jeremiah 29:11
- Don’t waste your life
- Honor Christ in everything we do and say
Reflection:
While listening to Mr.Rinks I learned that you can do many things in life. Your main job doesn't have to be your only passion in life. He showed us this through passing out hand outs that made us think of our passions and interests in life. This really helped me dig deeper into what I want to do in life and to have a purpose for everything I do. Another great point he made was how living the Christian life style isn't boring, but instead extremely fulfilling and satisfying.
Mr.Budnack (owner and operator of Parker Task Force): Tour and explanation of the Parker Task Force and how they are impacting the community
Key points:
- The Parker Task Force isn't just a food bank, but a place to get people back up on their feet
- The effectiveness of the set up and how the place is run allows for many people to be helped each day
- Parker Task Force has been around for 29 years
- If you are in need of more than just food they are willing to help out.
- Examples: Pay your utility bill, phone bills, help with eviction
- They use tough love to get through to their patients
- Mr.Budnack doesn't use a smart phone to set an example for the patients coming in
- They help with providing food for homeless kids over the weekend in school. There are lots of kids in our public schools that are homeless and we don't even know it
Reflections:
Through visiting and getting a tour of the Parker Task force I was able to learn how it is so easy to impact the community around me through the little things. It was interesting to also learn for the first time that the Parker Task Force is not only a food bank reaching out, but also a consoling center. They are helping people get back up on their feet through tough love and through God's love. I also learned how much of a real impact they are having outside of just providing meals and food. Mr. Budnack told us how earlier that day a man was going to be evicted from his house and the Parker Task Force paid for the mans house not to be evicted. Also they paid for a ladies water to be turned back on to be able to support her and the tree kids she had. It was really amazing to learn how much of a difference one community of people is making each day one caned food and a hug at a time.

Emotions impact us when we solve problems, this tampers with our ability to effectively process and problem solve through different situations.
Reflection
Throught the time we spent with Mr.Albert I learned many things. I would say he was different from all the other speakers we have had so far. He speaked on how to live our lives and taught more on life lessons to learn. One of the biggest things I took away from this was how we should evaluate a situation as a whole. Not to just look at it from one side, but to observe it from all angles. I think we can apply that to our lives and everything around us. When we hear something in the hallway or a rumor, to go to the person and find out what is really going on. Another thing I learned was to let God control your fate and the path that you're going to take in life. Even at age 50, Mr.Albers doesn’t know what he is doing with his life. What he does know is God has a plan that is ongoing in his life.

Reflection:
I learned many things from Samantha's talk. Her biggest points were how we are to conserve money and plan for the future. Not enough people plan for their future and it comes back to bite them. Through Samantha's talk I was able to take away was how I need to conserve my money and put a little bit away each day. Everybody has money to put away even if it is just a little bit every day. I never really had a perspective on what money can do in your life if you save it. I have always been a save I never really had a perspective on what money can do in your life if you save it. I have always been a spender and not a saver. Samantha's talk put a new perspective on how I should plan and preserve my money for the future and for emergencies.

I really enjoyed hearing him talk on a lot of practical life lessons and how to manage a business. A lot of points he made had to due with how to create a plan for the future and to create goals. It is important to set goals and have your staff believe in them too. If you have a team that is on board with what you believe, you will be setting yourself up for success. I took a lot away from this because my goal one day is to become a small business owner. Lots of these ideas will help me be successful in that area of work.
